The Council was created by the New Mexico State Legislature by New Mexico State Statute (\u00a7 49-11-3).  The Statute created a land grant support program to provide advice and assistance to land grants and to serve as a liaison between land grants and the federal, state and local government.  <a href=\"https:\/\/lgc.unm.edu\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Click here to reach the website of the New Mexico Land Grant Council.
